One Percent

You may or may not have noticed how extremely circumscribed this blog is. It explores my drawing and painting, past and present, and my photography, pretty much limited to my yard. That's it. My family and friends hover around in anonymity, and I do not express views on politics or religion. It's not that I'm a slave to rules, not even my own. But I do well with boundaries.

I'm busting out tonight. I don't have any paintings to post, and I have over 700 photographic images from my recent trip. I needed to upload them anyhow, and sort, and further cull. Here's a few of the pictures I especially like.

  1. Quite a variety out there, some will transform in to lovely paintings, any plans to do them?

  2. Ohhh I enjoyed these, especially the street scenes. Are you going to paint some?

I know what you mean about ...well...keeping things generic so to speak. I know I have friends and family who lurk but never comment. IN fact only my sister comments and yet I know they all look in. It's like...well heck then you aren't going to know my inner most thoughts because I won't post them for you to lurk and read them...ha!

  4. Barbara, they have a new section that I hadn't seen before. Remember where the gardens are, the Mexican pavilion where they have the colorful flowers and then next to it, is where they use to have all the spas and the pool. They have an exhibit from Australia there now, they also have exotic animals and an area where they have parrots. It was the most enjoyable part of the fair.

(in answer to your response on my blog)
I am posting some of the fair photos at my bird blog.

  5. oo these are good. I have still only half-explored mine.

and tonight, you become a fully international artist, with your art being displayed in a little art show at a local bar.

can't believe I'm going to China in a week. But 6 months and I will be back home

  6. Thanks all for nice comments. The trip was great. I'm sure I will do some paintings from some of my photographs, but not soon. I do have one more little sketch I did there that I will turn into a painting. And then I have to get back to the bug series, my plein air painting, and a couple of challenges. So much to paint, so little time. This goes for the fair too. September and October always seem ridiculously busy in my world, tho I don't know why. I might just post some more Korea photos, since I picked out 24 favorites and only posted 8. Finally, Sandy, I think the anonymity of others is kind of me respecting their privacy and not making them into identifiable characters in my blog world. But it is true anybody is welcome to make his or her presence known, and some family and friends occasionally do so. My self-censored personal expression is more because I think some topics, although they are terribly important, might interfere with people's ability to make friends and to share stuff like art.

  7. Your photographs definitely are asking to be painted! (I may have to ask your permission to try and paint that simply irresistible lotus!) Thanks for the inspiration!
